I think this was the best I had in Portland. I found this mobile restaurant on yelp.com. It sound interesting – a savory breakfast crepe popular in Beijing. It looked delicious and I finally discovered the booth right after I had lunch on Saturday and there was a long line. I returned out Sunday to find out they were closed and knew I wouldn’t be back in time to have one before they closed on Monday. I made it a point to get up early and try it out before leaving Portland. I am glad I did.
How did I miss this on my trip to China? I was discovering this in Portland? There is no doubt in my mind that if I go back, I am going to go back.
What is it? In Beijing, it is a breakfast dish called Jiang Bing – a savory crepe with an egg cooked on it with chili oil, plum sauce (hoisin), green onions and cilantro. A cracker is placed on it and it is rolled up. Sausage, an extra egg and cracker could be added as well. I loved every bite!
